Ingredients For Our Easy White Bean Hummus Dip:
Starting off with the main Ingredient
- 1 – 15 ounce Can of Cannellini beans (Open the can, drain the water and give it a quick rinse out)
- 3 – Peeled Garlic Cloves – you will want to use Fresh Garlic (Jarred minced garlic will also do)
- 1-2 Fresh Sage Leaves ( Fresh is always best – but if you don’t have any fresh leaves – Sage Spices will work)
- 1/3 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice (Freshly Squeezed is best 🙂 )
- 1 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (this is for the topping – so if you have some extra high quality oil use it here)
- Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
- Pitta Bread (this recipe will use store bought pitta bread )
Ok – now that we have the ingredients – its time to Put it all Together! Lets make this baby
Putting it all together
Start by pre heating your oven to 375 Degrees
Take your Pitta Bread and cut it into small wedges. Brush the top and bottom of the wedges with Olive oil and and put them in your baking sheet. Take a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper and dust the top of the bread.
These will go in the oven for approximately 5 minutes but you will want to keep an eye on them – look for them to golden and crisp up a bit. ( You might want to wait until you are done with the White bean Hummus dip before you put these guys in the oven so you can eat the dip with nice warm pita chips but I’ll leave that up to you)
Now on to the White Bean Hummus Dip
Take your Beans, lemon juice, Olive Oil, Garlic and put them into your Blender or Cuisinart. You will also add just a little bit of the sage to start (you can add more after to taste). Blend the ingredients until you have a nice smooth texture ( it will look like Hummus) Give it a little taste add more sage if you prefer. Now is the time to add some pepper and salt if you think it needs it.
Give it another quick blend. (if you haven’t already toss your pita bread in the oven now)
Once you are happy with the taste. Empty into a serving bowl.
Put a pinch of the Cayenne Pepper on top and give it a drizzle of your fancy extra virgin olive oil (regular extra virgin olive oil will do the trick as well if that’s all you have)
That’s it! See I told you it was easy. Look how great it looks!
Now you are ready to serve it up with your yummy fresh form the oven golden brown pita chips.
You can also ad some vegetable sticks for dipping. (Carrots, Broccoli, Califlower, Red and Bell peppers)
