Fast Lowfat Recipe – Jen’s Sweet & Hot Cracker Dip

Super bowl is approaching quickly. So, here is my favorite dip! I am craving this dip right now, I swear it is a mouth watering success!
To make this amazing fast, inexpensive and tasty dip you need just a few ingredients! Let’s get started…

The Perfect Combination—Sweet & Hot Cracker Dip

Ingredients:
16 oz of light or fat-free (regular is ok too) cream cheese
1/2 c raspberry preserves or strawberry or blackberry preserves
2 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp hot tapatio sauce (basically a splash here and there to taste)
2 tbsp water
Splash of balsamic vinegar too taste if you would like.
Package of your favorite crackers, try gluten-free crackers, or high-fiber crackers-any will work well!

Directions: In small sauce pan, heat the preserves, honey, water and hot sauce through until it bubbles and just begins to carmelize and it will seem to thicken a bit.
***Add hot sauce to taste–it will offer a sense of spice not be the dominant flavor in the sauce it just is a touch of hot on your tastebuds with the cream cheese and cracker! YUM! Also add a splash of balsamic vinegar to taste as well.. Sometimes I will add it to get a richness and depth to the cracker sauce topping.

Remove pan from the heat and let cool for just about 4-5 mins or so. Be careful handling this hot sugary sauce and after you have laid your cream cheese out on your serving dish, pour the preserves mix over your cream cheese and serve with crackers. Add a sprig of mint atop the creation and voila! A beautiful, colorful and yummy treat for all!

The sweetness of this preserve mix, coolness of the cream cheese and the touch of hotness from the hot sauce is the perfect combination!! Enjoy! Save Time and Money preparing this easy appetizer for your next event!
